Qué es el CERF:
La Oficina de Coordinación de Asuntos Humanitarios de las Naciones Unidas (OCHA) maneja el Fondo Central de Respuestas a Emergencias (CERF - Central Emergency Response Fund). El CERF fue creado por las Naciones Unidas para ayudar a las agencias a iniciar rápidamente sus actividades de ayuda de emergencia y socorro y asegurar una asistencia humanitaria más inmediata y confiable para víctimas de desastres naturales y conflictos armados. El CERF está financiado por contribuciones voluntarias de los Estados Miembros de las Naciones Unidas, empresas privadas, fundaciones, e individuos. El CERF pretende complementar, no sustituir, mecanismos de fondos humanitarios ya existentes, como los Llamamientos Consolidados del la ONU.
CERF Huracán Gustav:
El 15 de septiembre del 2008 OCHA aprobó USD$ 2,487,431.00 para la recuperación del huracán Gustav, denominado CERF I.
